Chief of Staff

Job Description:

The Chief of Staff is the right-hand person to top executives. They serve as a crucial link between leadership and other departments, ensuring the company’s strategy is implemented effectively, managing projects, and driving key initiatives. Is often referred to as “swiss knife”, meaning that missions are very broad, and can include anything from support preparation to international mediation.

Skills Required:

  1. Strategic Thinking: Aligning company goals with operational tasks.
  2. Communication: Facilitating effective communication between top management and teams.
  3. Project Management: Overseeing important projects from initiation to completion.
  4. Leadership: Leading teams, setting direction, and inspiring growth.
  5. Problem-Solving: Resolving complex issues to drive business success.

Education and Certification Needed:

A Master’s degree in Business, Management, or a related field is often preferred. In some cases, relevant experience in the industry or a good existing network may be considered in lieu of formal education. A thorough understanding of regulations is essential. Also, PMP certifications or a previous experience in consulting is a plus.

Starting Salary

In Europe, the starting salary for a Chief of Staff typically ranges from €60,000 to €110,000 per year.

Possible Evolutions

Chief of Staff can progress to executive roles like Chief Operating Officer (COO) or Chief Executive Officer (CEO). They may also branch into business consulting or entrepreneurship.
