Fleet Managers are instrumental in maintaining and operating a company’s fleet of vehicles. They ensure the safety, efficiency, and compliance of vehicles with regulatory standards.

Skills Required:

  1. Vehicle Maintenance Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the mechanics and servicing of fleet vehicles.
  2. Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that vehicles adhere to legal and safety requirements.
  3. Budget Management: Careful oversight of the fleet budget and cost control.
  4. Team Management: Leading and motivating teams of drivers and maintenance staff.
  5. Problem-Solving: Swiftly resolving operational issues in the fleet context.

Education and Certification Needed:

A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Engineering, or a related field is often preferred. In Europe, certifications such as the FTA (Fleet Transport Association) Certificate in Transport Management can bolster your qualifications.

Starting Salary

In Europe, the starting salary for a Fleet Manager typically ranges from €35,000 to €55,000 per year.

Possible Evolutions

Fleet Managers can advance to positions within Operations and supply chain departments, where they oversee larger and more complex elements of the company’s operations. Opportunities also exist in logistics and transportation management.
